The story when I consulted about the ICL

ICL(EN)

※Currently I’m studying English.
Therefore, there is a possibility that inappropriate expressions will be made.
If the expression is wrong, it would be helpful if you could point it out.

[Today’s Gratitude]
When I am sleeping, my wife putted the Futon (blanket) on me.

Thank you for always.
Perhaps imitating this, I was surprised when the children put the futon on me.
(At this point, I happened to be awake.)

I have bad eyesight.
Myopia and astigmatism combine to make, it very difficult to see with the naked eye.
First of all, it is difficult to arrive at the destination by taking a bus or train with the naked eye.
Or rather, it’s impossible.

Therefore, I have been interested in vision restoration technology for a long time.
However, considering the price, I’m a little hesitant.

However, I had a relative who had LASIK, and he gave me advice such as “The world will change” and “If you lose your glasses in an earthquake, you were’t be able to move.”
(If I’m going to do it anyway, I should have done it sooner…)

There are many different types of eye surgery such as LASIK.
As far as I know, there are three main types:

  ① LASIK
  ② ReLEx – SMILE
  ③ ICL

① is a famous LASIK.
A surgical procedure that scrapes the surface of the cornea to force refraction.
② is ReLEx (Refractive Lenticle Extraction), and there are two types: “FLEx” and “SMILE”.
“FLEx” seems to be similar to ①, and “ReLEx” often refers to “SMILE”.
Instead of scraping the surface of the cornea to adjust it, the inside of the cornea is extracted and adjusted.
Since the scrape area of the cornea surface is considerably narrower in method ②, dry eye is less likely to occur than in method ①, which is an advantage.
③ is an ICL (Implantable Contact Lens) and puts the contact in the eye.
③ seems to scrape the same cornea surface as ②. (Approx. 3mm)
By the way, the price will change as “①<②<<③”.

This time, I’m going to think and try the ③.

When I called, they immediately consulted me …it was not correct…

In this ReLEx, there are not many places where you can receive surgery.
However, by chance, a nearby university hospital was responding.
So when I called…

Phone 「Do you have a letter of introduction?」

I was kicked out.
Apparently, I needed a referral for vision correction surgery….

Therefore, I called “hospitals that do LASIK” to see, if they could write me a letter of introduction.
(Sorry,,, I will not take your LASIK…)

I had to work, so I looked for a hospital that was open on Sundays and timidly called them.
As a result, I was able to write a letter of introduction and made a reservation for a day to go to the hospital.
I’m really sorry. . .

On the day, I explained the situation at the hospital and finished with a simple examination.
The hospital wrote surprisingly smoothly.
Thanks.

I’ve got a letter of introduction so I can finally talk to you, but…

I called the university hospital again.
Then…

Phone 「Do you have a letter of introduction?」

Great manual support.
I remember Villager A.
Anyway, this time I have a letter of introduction.
Therefore, I was able to make a reservation.

On the same day, you will have another simple examination to check the condition of your eyes.
Finally, I was able to talk to the doctor, but I was surprised to hear that the topic suddenly turned to ICL.
When I told him that I wanted to receive ReLEx…

Doctor: “Oh, ReLEx. I thought it was ICL, because I hadn’t done it recently.”

Didn’t you do it?
Even though it was listed so majestically on the HP.
But soon after…

Doctor 「But Tamito-san, ReLEx is difficult because your cornea is thin.」
Tamito 「!!」
Doctor 「The shape of the cornea is also in the state of about 50 years old.」
Tamito 「!!!?」

It seems that I can’t do ReLEx in the first place.
Lasik would be impossible with this too.
Come to think of it, there was a time when I used hard contacts for about three months, and the contacts were often misaligned.
I wonder if the cornea has been scraped by this…
I eye 50 years old…

Anyway, you have only two options.
“I do to ICL”, or “I don’t do to ICL”.

in the end‥‥

The price is also high, so I can’t shake my head easily.
Since I have a family in the first place, I can’t easily judge by myself.
I will leave my seat and call my wife to discuss it.
Then…

Wife 「Let take the ICL.」

She said right away.
That quick decision is typical … I would be saved if she said so smoothly.

I … will … take ICL!

A more detailed inspection on another day, and more…

On another day, we will do a more detailed inspection over the course of the day.
I put special eye drops on the way.
Doctor said “Maybe you feel like presbyopia”.
And, this is interesting because it made me unable to see things up close.
Here, I experienced for the first time that “it is easier to see if you put your smartphone out in front of you”.
Even with my short-sighted eyesight, I couldn’t beat the medicine. (Heals over time)

And it’s time to decide on a specific schedule…
But, next,,,

・”There is a possibility of contracting an infection after surgery”
・”If the part with the eyes is damaged, there is a risk of vision loss, etc.”
・”I can’t wash my head for a week after surgery”
· “If the size of the contact lens does not fit, you will have to undergo surgery again” (the above risks have resurfaced)

followed by a threatening explanation.
I’m sure it’s just in case, but I wanted you to at least explain it first.
I wonder what will happen if I say, “I’m going to stop after all” even though I’ve been doing a lot of tests.
I won’t say it…
Especially, not being able to wash my hair for a week is plainly painful.
Strictly speaking, it says, “Don’t wash the hair for 3 days. And after the 4th day, you can just wash your hair like you would at a beauty salon.”

This is,,, these are the story up to 4 months ago

Yes, this is the story from four months ago.
Perhaps because my cornea is 50 years old, there is no contact lens that fits me in stock, so I will have to order it separately.
So it took longer than expected.
Nearly half a year has passed since the first phone call.

I’m finally having surgery next week!
It’s been so long…it’s been so long I forgot about it until recently.
Dangerous, dangerous.

By the way… I wonder what will happen… I would like to be careful about infectious diseases.
Post-surgery articles will be posted separately.

See you soon!
